According to a new report, the upcoming Google Pixel 8 series devices are rumored to receive significant camera upgrades, including a new ISOCELL GN2 main sensor and a 64MP telephoto lens. While both the standard and the vanilla models are expected to feature the new main sensor, it appears that the vanilla variant might miss out on the inclusion of an ultrawide lens. These camera enhancements are anticipated to elevate the photography capabilities of the Google Pixel 8 series, providing users with improved image quality and expanded zoom capabilities.

In a recent article by Kamila Wojciechowska on Android Authority, it has been disclosed that the Pixel 8 series is set to undergo a substantial camera upgrade. The report indicates that both the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will feature the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor as their primary camera sensor, representing a significant improvement over the previous GN1 sensor. This upgrade holds promising implications for the photography capabilities of the upcoming Pixel 8 devices.

The inclusion of the new main sensor in the Pixel 8 series results in a significant 35% increase in light capture compared to its predecessor, leading to brighter low-light images and faster shutter speeds that reduce motion blur. Additionally, the new sensor supports 8K/30fps video recording capabilities.

Furthermore, the Pixel 8 Pro is expected to receive a more improved and usable ultrawide sensor compared to its predecessor. While the Pixel 7 Pro featured a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor for its ultrawide lens, the upcoming flagship model could boast a new 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor.

This larger sensor size is anticipated to enhance the device's ultrawide shooting capabilities. However, the standard Pixel 8 is reportedly set to retain the same Sony IMX386 sensor for its ultrawide lens, albeit with an improved zoom ratio of 0.55x compared to the Pixel 7's 0.67x zoom ratio.
