Huawei, a global technology titan, is rumored to be on the verge of unveiling an innovative addition to their foldable phone range. In an intriguing departure from tradition, the new foldable phone is likely to be part of the Nova series, unlike its predecessors that were classified under the Mate or Pocket branding, indicating Huawei's ongoing experiments with horizontal and vertical folding designs.

The speculative chatter suggests that this upcoming member of the Huawei Nova series will likely carry a price tag somewhere between 4,000 Yuan (approximately $558) and 5,000 Yuan (approximately $697). This pricing strategy reflects Huawei's commitment to make the foldable phone experience more accessible to a broader customer demographic.

The Nova foldable phone is expected to mimic the vertical folding mechanism showcased by models such as the Huawei Pocket S or P50 Pocket. Additionally, it may potentially operate on a 4G network and be powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset.

As a trailblazer in the technological landscape, Huawei debuted its first foldable phone in 2018 and has subsequently introduced multiple models within the category. The pricing of these foldable phones has traditionally been on the higher end, primarily due to the complex manufacturing processes and associated production costs.

The Pocket S, Huawei’s most economical foldable phone to date, was initially priced at 4,988 Yuan (approximately $696). This foldable phone is equipped with a 6.9-inch foldable OLED panel, FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Other notable features include a Snapdragon 778G chipset, 8 GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery with 40W charging capacity. It also sports a 10.7-megapixel front camera and a dual-camera system featuring a 40-megapixel main and 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The rumored Nova series foldable phone might be positioned at an even lower price point than the Pocket S.

In other Huawei news, the company is allegedly developing the Huawei Mate 60 series exclusively for the Chinese market. Speculations abound that the Mate 60 series could potentially signal the debut of Huawei’s inaugural 5G flagship phone in the post-US sanctions era. Should all go as planned, Huawei might reestablish its custom of unveiling the P-series and Mate-series flagship phones biannually, starting from the upcoming year.
