In November, the tech world witnessed iQOO's introduction of the iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro in China, marking a significant milestone in the company's product line. While the Pro variant has been earmarked for the Chinese market, the iQOO 12 recently made its debut in Thailand. This launch positions the iQOO 12 as the first globally available smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

The iQOO 12 5G stands out with its impressive 6.78-inch flat OLED display, boasting a 1.5K resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels. The screen's 144Hz refresh rate, coupled with 2160PHz PWM dimming and a peak brightness of 3000 nits, ensures a premium viewing experience. Notably, its pixel density is an impressive 452 ppi. Enhancing the gaming experience, the iQOO 12 5G is equipped with the company's self-developed Q1 graphics chip. It also features LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring top-notch performance.

Battery life is a key aspect of this device, with a robust 5,000mAh capacity supported by 120W fast charging. The iQOO 12 runs on Android 14 layered with FunTouch OS 14, promising a smooth and user-friendly experience. Additionally, the Indian division of iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 12 will receive three major OS upgrades and four years of security updates, all while being free of bloatware. It is anticipated that these benefits will extend to other markets, including Thailand.

The camera setup of the iQOO 12 5G is a major highlight. It features a 16-megapixel front camera and a versatile rear camera array, including a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The phone also boasts an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, a VC cooling system, a large X-axis linear motor, and an aluminum alloy frame.

Connectivity options are comprehensive, featuring Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, and an IR blaster. The phone's dimensions and weight (163.22 x 75.88 x 8.1mm and 203.7 grams) add to its appeal. While the Chinese variant of the iQOO 12 includes an IP64 rating, details about the IP rating of the global variant remain undisclosed.

For the Thailand market, the iQOO 12 5G is priced at THB 27,900 (~$790; ~Rs 65,800) for the 16GB+512GB variant, available in two color options: Legend (white) and Alpha (black). Additionally, the iQOO 12 5G is set to launch in India on Dec. 12, with pricing details already revealed for the Indian market.
