OnePlus Open's launch date is finalized

The OnePlus Open, OnePlus’s inaugural foldable phone, has finally been given a launch date after months of speculations and leaks, with the company’s President and COO, Kinder Liu, revealing details in an exclusive interview with The Verge. The device is set to make its debut later this month, precisely next week. Notably, OPPO, OnePlus’s sister company, also announced that it would introduce the Find N3 series foldables on October 19th.

Kinder Liu unveiled that the OnePlus Open is slated for an announcement on October 19th, with the launch event taking place in Mumbai at 7:30 pm IST (4 pm CEST and 10 am EDT). The forthcoming offering, Liu commented, will "bring the foldable experience to new heights.” He shared that although OnePlus dedicated two years to research and prototype development, technical hurdles caused the launch to be delayed.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the OnePlus Open and the OPPO Find N3, debuting on the same day in Singapore at 14:30 GMT, will be identical. This parallel is due to the fact that OPPO’s book-style Find N foldables have, until now, only been available within the Chinese market.

Visuals shared by the publication provide a sneak peek at the OnePlus Open, verifying the inclusion of a three-stage alert slider and a boxy form factor. Observing the frame of the device, it’s suggested that the foldable phone will be available in a Green color variant. Liu also emphasized in the interview that OnePlus aims to provide a comprehensive flagship foldable experience, eschewing any compromises.
