Foldable phones are now the new standard of our lives. In this context, we can say that every brand is trying to make a difference with its own foldable device. South Korean technology giant Samsung is no exception. The company has made a difference with its foldable models. Now there are bigger goals at stake.

According to a new report from Samsung's home country of Korea, the company expects to sell approximately 260 million smartphones this year and 270 million in 2023. The number of devices sold by the company reached its highest point in 2017 with 320 million, but it has never exceeded 300 million since then.

The company expects to sell 260 million units in 2022, which is about 10 million more than in the previous year. It also wants to increase that number by 10 million the following year. Therefore South Korean tech giant changes its focus on foldable devices.

The company expects foldables to grow at an average annual rate of 80 percent by 2024 in this market, where they are currently unrivaled.Next year, Samsung intends to ship 210 million A series units and 60 million of its premium S and Z series units. However, if one or more Chinese smartphone manufacturers ultimately decide to launch their foldables internationally, where Samsung currently reigns supreme, its plans for foldables could be derailed.
