Sharp, the Japanese electronics company, has unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the Sharp Aquos R8 series, continuing its tradition of releasing high-end handsets every May. The new series boasts impressive specs and features, promising to deliver an exceptional viewing and performance experience to users.

Sharp Aquos R8 and Aquos R8 Pro unveiled: Impressive specs and features that set them apart

Sharp's latest Aquos R8 series smartphones, unveiled in Japan, pack impressive specifications and features. The devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, LPDDR5x RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. They offer 256GB of storage, expandable via MicroSD card, and have IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Both models come with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and an in-display fingerprint sensor (the Pro model uses an ultrasonic sensor).

The phones sport a 10-bit Pro IGZO OLED display with up to 240Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, and high brightness levels. The Pro model features a 6.6-inch display with a 2,000 nit brightness level and WUXGA+ resolution, while the regular model features a 6.4-inch display with a 1,300 nit brightness level and FHD+ resolution. The Aquos R8 Pro comes with a 47.2MP 1-inch Sony IMX989 primary camera with a Summicron lens, while the Aquos R8 has a 50.3MP 1/1.55-inch camera with a Hektor lens. The devices are expected to be available for purchase in July, with pricing yet to be announced by Sharp.
