PlayStation 5 shortage is 'officially' over.

Sony announced in CES that it has sold over 30 million PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide as of December, 2022 that is a five million sales increase since the release of the most recent sales figures in October.

This is despite the fact that the console's price was increased in a number of countries in August by Sony. Additionally, Sony declared that the console shortage has ended worldwide.

"Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward," said PlayStation chief Jim Ryan.

"Unprecedented demand amid global challenges"

Sony has long endured to come this success. The global COVID-19 pandemic was at its height when the PlayStation 5 was released in November 2020. This caused problems in the global supply chain, which caused a shortage of consoles for more than two years.

Ryan addressed the issue and expressed gratitude to PlayStation customers for their patience as the business "managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years."
