News from Xiaomi's car is stirring excitement

Xiaomi, the renowned technology company, is paving its way into the electric vehicle sector with an anticipated launch of its first car. This vehicle isn't just any ordinary electric car; it is expected to come in two versions: battery-electric and extended-range. The battery-electric version of Xiaomi's car is projected to offer two options based on the voltage platform and battery type. The base model will be equipped with a 400V voltage platform paired with the BYD Blade Battery. In contrast, the high-end version will leverage an 800V voltage platform and feature the CATL Qilin Battery with a staggering capacity of 101kWh.

The extended-range variant adds an intriguing dimension to Xiaomi's EV lineup. This version is believed to incorporate a 1.5L or 1.5T range extender alongside a substantial battery. An extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) uses a gasoline engine, which serves as a range extender by driving an electric generator that charges the EV's battery. Such a feature is strategic for Xiaomi, providing a potential solution to range anxiety and catering to a broader spectrum of potential buyers.

In terms of design, the car is said to resonate with the younger generation. With a low and sleek profile, it promises a coupe-like appearance, characterized by an elongated front and a fastback rear, infusing an overall sporty aesthetic. Notably, technology hasn't been compromised either. The car was identified to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, enhanced with Bluetooth 5.2, USB Media functionalities, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay.

Since announcing its venture into the automotive industry, Xiaomi's progress has been commendable. The car is currently undergoing trial production, with approximately 50 prototype cars being rolled out weekly. The commencement of mass production is set for 2024, marking a significant milestone for Xiaomi in this new venture.
