The announcement by Xiaomi regarding its venture into the automotive industry has stirred both industry pundits and customers with a sense of expectancy. The development of Xiaomi's inaugural car model has been keenly watched, and the latest updates suggest noteworthy progress. A project supplier reportedly affirmed to CNMO that pricing for Xiaomi's debut vehicle model has been determined.

The company involved, FAW Fuwei Automotive Parts Co., Ltd, headquartered in Changchun, confirmed its active participation in Xiaomi’s automotive project. Furthermore, it shared that several of its subsidiary companies have joined Xiaomi's car procurement team, signaling substantial advancement in the collaboration between Xiaomi and its suppliers.

Previously, social media rumors proposed a starting price of 149,900 yuan (equivalent to $20,777) for Xiaomi's vehicle, igniting a wave of discussions. Contrarily, Wang Hua, who heads Xiaomi's public relations, refuted this claim as inaccurate. The source was traced back to an erroneous self-media report from May 2022, which the Xiaoice virtual assistant inadvertently propagated.

Meanwhile, the production of Xiaomi's car is reportedly progressing at a steady pace. Earlier this year, Lu Weibing, a partner and president at Xiaomi, revealed that the car project was unfolding smoothly, and had entered a phase of accelerated development. The vehicle was even spotted during a snow test earlier in January, with founder Lei Jun in attendance. Further testing in both summer and winter conditions is planned for this year. As per the current schedule, Xiaomi aims to officially launch its car in the first half of 2024.

Xiaomi Group recently published its financial report for the first quarter of 2023, which included insights on its innovative ventures, such as the smart electric vehicle. Despite a decline in total revenue compared to the same quarter in the previous year, the company's adjusted net profit saw a notable increase.
