Apple unveils highly anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC

Apple has officially introduced the much-awaited 15-inch MacBook Air, confirming previous speculations. The newly unveiled laptop closely resembles the redesigned 13-inch model that Apple unveiled during last year's WWDC, with the only notable difference being its larger screen size. This release is noteworthy as it marks the first instance where Apple has introduced a laptop of this size that does not belong to their "pro" lineup.

As anticipated, the 15.3-inch MacBook Air incorporates the same M2 chip found in its smaller counterpart, which was introduced roughly a year ago. Despite the chip's age, there are no immediate concerns regarding its performance, as it has proven to be highly capable on the 13-inch MacBook Air.

In terms of design, the laptop follows the trend set by Apple's recent releases, featuring a squared-off design rather than the previous wedge-shaped form factor that was characteristic of the Air. The display includes the controversial notch, housing the 1080p webcam.

Apple boasts that the MacBook Air provides an impressive 18-hour battery life and weighs approximately 3.3 pounds. Similar to the 13-inch model, it operates without a fan, promoting a quieter user experience.

15-inch Apple MacBook Air pricing and availability

The 15-inch MacBook Air will be offered in the same four color options as the smaller version: Midnight, Space Gray, Starlight, and Silver. Pricing for the laptop begins at $1,299, and pre-orders are set to commence today, with availability in stores starting next week.

In conjunction with the new release, Apple has reduced the prices of its existing 13-inch MacBook Air models. The M2 MacBook Air, previously priced at $1,199, now starts at $1,099, while the M1 model has a starting price of $999.
