Qualcomm introduced its new products for the audio market

At the forefront of audio innovation, Qualcomm recently unveiled its next-generation audio platforms - the Qualcomm S7 and S7 Pro Gen 1 Sound. These cutting-edge platforms have been meticulously designed to redefine the audio experience for devices such as earbuds, headphones, and speakers. Their introduction promises not only superior performance but also enhanced power efficiency and unparalleled connectivity.

The highlight of these platforms is their powerful on-device AI, which is significantly smarter than the earlier versions. This advancement is marked by six times the computing prowess and almost 100 times the AI capability. Such upgrades are crucial in ensuring impeccable audio quality without any undue strain on the device's battery life.

A noteworthy feature of the S7 Pro Sound platform is Qualcomm's XPAN technology combined with micro-power Wi-Fi. This innovation leverages low-power Wi-Fi to augment the operational range of Bluetooth-enabled devices like earbuds, headphones, and speakers. The system is astute enough to gauge the efficiency of a Bluetooth connection, and when the device moves out of Bluetooth's range, it seamlessly transitions to Wi-Fi. Moreover, Qualcomm XPAN guarantees pristine audio delivery at frequencies of 48 kHz and 96 kHz without any degradation in quality. This ensures that users experience minimal latency during playback or while viewing content.

When it comes to advancements, the S7 and S7 Pro Gen 1 Sound platforms have made substantial strides in rapid-response noise cancellation, support for diverse audio channels, and energy efficiency. This translates to unparalleled noise cancellation, particularly in bustling environments like workplaces or cafes. Impressively, the noise-cancellation feature is adaptive, making real-time adjustments based on earbud movement or abrupt ambient noise changes.

Delving into the technicalities, these platforms boast a novel architecture that elevates performance while ensuring minimal power consumption. They are equipped with almost 100 times more AI power and thrice the memory capacity than the previous Qualcomm S5 Gen 2 Sound Platform. The DSP has also witnessed an improvement, boasting a 1.5 GHz total audio compute, marking an enhancement of over 50% from its predecessor. Moreover, the platforms come with a dedicated AI core, specific cores for audio curation, a high-fidelity stereo audio codec, and the 4th Generation Qualcomm Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation. Other notable features include support for Bluetooth 5.4 radio, USB High Speed PHY at 480 Mbps, various digital audio interfaces, and an integrated system that includes a PMU, charger, mic bias, among others.

As for the S7 Pro Gen 1, it offers added functionalities like micro-power Wi-Fi support, Qualcomm XPAN Technology for extensive home and building coverage, smooth transitions from Bluetooth to Wi-Fi, and data rates that can go up to 29 Mbps. This ensures optimal support for Snapdragon Sound and allows for high-definition, lossless music streaming over Wi-Fi.
