Samsung has just unveiled a groundbreaking 25W charger that boasts a sleek and compact design. What sets this charger apart is its use of GaN (Gallium Nitride) material, a significant departure from conventional silicon-based chargers. This transition to GaN not only trims down the charger's dimensions but also enhances its efficiency, resulting in a lighter and more portable companion while maintaining rapid charging capabilities.

But the innovation doesn't stop there. The charger takes full advantage of the USB PD 3.0 fast charging protocol, complete with PPS compatibility. This means it's versatile enough to swiftly charge an array of devices, encompassing smartphones, tablets, and even laptops.

Beyond its slim profile and swifter charging prowess, the new charger also places a strong emphasis on energy efficiency. Samsung reports that in an idle state, the charger sips a mere 5mW of power, a stark improvement over the older model's 20mW. This translates to less energy wastage when the charger is not actively in use, aligning with eco-conscious trends.

Notably, sustainability is at the forefront, as this charger is crafted from recycled plastic, positioning it as a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chargers.

As of now, the new 25W Fast Charger is exclusively available in South Korea. However, Samsung's plans extend beyond, as they are expected to introduce it to other markets in the near future. Pricing options include KRW 25,300 ($19) for the charger by itself or KRW 33,000 ($24) for the charger bundled with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C charging cable.
