Samsung has declared that its next significant launch event, the eagerly awaited Galaxy Unpacked, is set for July 26. This event is expected to introduce a variety of exciting products, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Tab S9 series, and Watch S6 series. Alongside these, there are murmurs about the unveiling of an XR headset by Samsung at the same event. Although the XR device hasn't been officially confirmed, Samsung has already started teasing the other devices to be revealed at Galaxy Unpacked. A report from GoAndroid provides further substance to the speculation, mentioning that the battery of Samsung’s XR headset has acquired multiple certifications, suggesting a potential launch in the near future.

An intriguing detail is the spotting of a battery with the EB-BI610ABY model number in the SafetyKorea certification platform's database by the publication. This battery appears to be a successor to the older EB-BI120ABY battery, anticipated to have powered unannounced Samsung AR Glasses with mode number SM-I120. It's thus probable that the EB-BI610ABY battery is intended for Samsung’s upcoming XR headset.

The EB-BI610ABY battery has also been certified by India’s BIS and China’s CQC certification platforms. This could imply that the XR headset might be released not only in South Korea but also in India and China.

Further stirring the rumor mill was a report earlier this week suggesting that Samsung had delayed the launch of its inaugural XR headset by roughly three to six months. Hence, the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event might see the company confirming the headset's existence, followed by a launch a few months down the line.

In terms of competition, it's speculated that Samsung’s XR headset will be up against Apple’s Vision Pro, a mixed reality (MR) headset. However, specific technical specifications are yet to be revealed. There are reports of collaborations between Samsung, Qualcomm, and Google for the development of this product.
