Apple made a critical decision for the iPhone 16

Apple, one of the biggest names in the smartphone world, has rolled up its sleeves for the next flagship phone series.

While the iPhone 16 series might be a whole year ahead, speculations are already in the air. A recent analysis by Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities suggests that Apple is leaning towards incorporating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem in the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max versions.

Introduced in February 2023, the Snapdragon X75 boasts improvements in 5G connectivity, proving to be faster and more efficient than its predecessor, the Snapdragon X70, which is present in the existing iPhone 15 series. Impressively, it also promises about a 20% reduction in power consumption and presents a more compact design.

Yet, Pu's analysis doesn't stop there. He predicts that only the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will benefit from the X75 modem. On the other hand, the standard iPhone 16 and its 16 Plus counterpart are likely to continue featuring the Snapdragon X70. This deviation from Apple's typical approach of using a consistent modem across all models in a series raises eyebrows. It leaves us questioning whether Apple aims to set the Pro versions distinctly apart from the base models.

In another intriguing bit, Pu hints at a potential increase in the display sizes for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. If his predictions hold, we could see a 0.2-inch increment from the current 6.1 and 6.7-inch measurements. However, it's crucial to remember that all these are based on speculations. Only time will reveal the exact path Apple chooses for the iPhone 16 series.
