Apple's reign seems to be wobbling!

While the pandemic brought a myriad of challenges to individuals globally, it proved to be a golden era for tech enterprises. The confinement measures saw billions turning to online shopping, translating to unprecedented profits for tech titans and significantly influencing market trends. Notably, the global PC market experienced a surge. However, as the Counterpoint report revealed, by the third quarter of 2023, this market began to normalize.

There was a 9% year-over-year dip in global PC shipments during Q3 2023, though it marked the second consecutive quarter of sequential growth. The decrease can be attributed to the dwindling demand as both consumers and enterprises pulled back on purchases. Yet, amid this landscape, HP showcased resilience.

Apple's reign seems to be wobbling!

,Their quarterly shipments experienced a mid-single digit growth, fueled mainly by strong consumer and educational sectors' demand. Lenovo, too, managed to stay ahead of the curve, reporting only a minor decline in year-over-year shipments. However, industry leaders like Dell, Apple, and Asus grappled to maintain robust shipment numbers during this period.

Market analysts remain hopeful. They believe that the PC market has reached its nadir and anticipate a gradual revival in the coming quarters. A significant catalyst propelling this predicted resurgence is the emergence of AI-enabled PCs. These devices, furnished with specialized hardware and software, are designed to excel in artificial intelligence tasks. While they're still nascent in their developmental journey, their potential to redefine computing is immense. These AI-driven machines can be deployed across diverse sectors, be it video editing, gaming, scientific research, or photo manipulation. With an expected compound annual growth rate of 50% from 2020 to 2026, analysts project that by 2026, AI PCs will command more than half of the PC market share. Factors such as the Windows 11 upgrade cycle and the introduction of new Arm PCs are also predicted to invigorate the PC shipment figures in 2024.
