In a notable development, Huawei has begun rolling out its HarmonyOS 4 to older models of the Honor series, an action that has been met with approval from its user base. Previously, there were some initial concerns among users when Huawei released its upgrade list for HarmonyOS 4, as it seemed like Honor devices were going to be neglected. Nonetheless, a schedule for migrating older Honor models to HarmonyOS 4 was unexpectedly released, demonstrating the company's commitment to its existing customers.

Among the models slated to receive the update are the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, Honor 30 Pro+, Honor V30, Honor V30 Pro, and Honor Play4 Pro. Users of these models have been given the option to apply for the HarmonyOS 4 Beta upgrade through the “My Huawei” platform.

HarmonyOS has displayed remarkable development, advancing from its 2.0 version to 4.0 in a short time span, thereby enhancing the user experience noticeably. This evolution emphasizes that the smartphone market, once dominated by Android and iOS, is now seeing a strong competitor in Huawei's HarmonyOS.

Notably, HarmonyOS 4 has been quickly embraced with over 5 million users within the first two weeks of its launch, and a staggering 1 million users on the first day alone. The system introduces personalized themes, an improved notification center, and a “Live Window” feature that allows for real-time alerts.

Wang Chenglu, CEO of Shenzhen Kaihong Digital Industry Development, has hinted at a formal HarmonyOS release for PCs in the coming year, potentially providing competition for the anticipated Windows 12 from Microsoft. Furthermore, HarmonyOS has already demonstrated its adaptability and seamless operation on an HP notebook, suggesting its capability to run smoothly with adapted drivers.

With HarmonyOS progressively gaining traction and broadening its ecosystem, it stands to capture a significant portion of the future market, potentially challenging the hegemony of other established operating systems.
