After being pushed out of the Android ecosystem and developing its OS, Huawei seems to have finally achieved its desired state.

Harmony 4.0 keeps spreading at an unprecedented pace

On August 4, Huawei presented the world with the latest version of its operating system, HarmonyOS 4.0. This update introduced several aesthetic changes, new features, and overall improvements. In a short span since its launch, it's impressive how the OS has expanded its reach. Initially, it was noted that 10 million Huawei devices, including smartphones and tablets, had adopted this software. As of the recent announcement during Huawei's Autumn 2023 Flagship Product Launch event, this number has surged to an astonishing 60 million installations. This means an average of 1.2 million users embraced HarmonyOS 4.0 every day since its formal introduction.

Diving into the features of HarmonyOS 4.0, users can now enjoy an array of rich theme templates and uniquely stylized layout designs. It offers customization options, allowing users to select app icon colors and even set emoji-themed wallpapers.

Furthermore, managing notifications has become more efficient; they are grouped together based on importance, and notifications from the same app are neatly stacked into dynamic cards. This design ensures users view more details of each alert without needing to click on each one individually. Another functionality worth highlighting is the ability to identify text and images effortlessly. A simple double-click followed by a long-press allows users to select them.

But the event wasn't just about HarmonyOS. Huawei also took the opportunity to launch several new products in China. Among these were the Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design smartphone equipped with satellite calling and a ceramic body. Moreover, Huawei introduced the FreeBuds Pro 3 and the Watch GT 4 to its line of gadgets.
