Apple's recently launched iPhone 15 models are generating buzz, not just for their innovative features, but for a peculiar issue that has come to the fore. Numerous users have reported overheating problems, an issue Apple acknowledges and has committed to addressing in an upcoming software update. However, the heat issue isn't the sole concern for new iPhone owners.

A distinct problem has emerged, particularly for those who own BMW cars. Several iPhone 15 owners have taken to platforms like X (previously known as Twitter) to voice their grievances. After using the wireless charging pad in their BMW vehicles to power up their iPhones, these users discovered their device's NFC (Near-field Communication) chip had become dysfunctional. This chip plays a pivotal role in enabling features such as Apple Pay and digital car keys.

These users, after charging their iPhones in their BMWs, faced a recurring "Could Not Set Up Apple Pay" error when accessing the Wallet app. MacRumors reported that, in response, Apple replaced some of the affected devices, after verifying that the NFC chip indeed malfunctioned.

Interestingly, a significant portion of these complaints originate from iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max users. These models are equipped with the A17 Pro chip and are crafted from titanium. Still, there are indications that the standard iPhone 15 and 15 Plus might also be susceptible to this issue. At this juncture, it remains uncertain which specific BMW models cause this glitch.

The root cause behind this malfunction is still under investigation, and the extent of NFC failures remains unclear. Apple has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. In light of these developments, iPhone 15 users who also own BMWs might want to think twice before using their car's wireless charger.
