Foldable devices are more in our lives now. In this context, Xiaomi also came up with a new foldable device example. In 2019, Xiaomi submitted a patent application to the CNIPA for a phone that could fold outward and resemble Huawei's Mate X series products. After more than three years, the developer Kuba Wojciechowski (@Za_Raczke) shared some real-world images of the device, which was actually used as a prototype but was never released for sale.

The prototype model carries over the fundamental design from the patent filing. On the back of the device, there is a button for unlatching the screen, a LED flash, and a total of four camera sensors. Multiple images of the inside of the phone show a dual battery configuration with the larger cell having a 3,500 mAh capacity. We also get confirmation that it had an X50 modem and the Snapdragon 855 processor from Qualcomm to support 5G. According to Wojciechowski, the device was "super secret and very few units made their way into the public," so we can only assume that the design's durability was its biggest flaw.
