After the final version of iOS 16.4 beta was launched last week, the release of iOS 16.4 followed. The latest update arrived to the latest iPhone models from iPhone 8 series. If you are ready, let's check what is new on the latest iOS update from Apple.

Apple unveils 21 new emojis

With the release of iOS 16.4, 21 additional emoji are now available on iOS devices. The newly added emoji include various items such as a moose, a goose, a peapod, a hair pick, and maracas, as well as new heart colors like pink and light blue.

This feature helps to minimize background noises during the call, thus improving the clarity of your voice for the person on the other end of the line.

iCloud shared photo library now allows duplicate image removal

iOS 16 introduced the ability to easily remove duplicate photos from a device's Photo Library by pressing the 'Merge' button, which combines duplicate photos and their associated data into a single image.

This feature helps to save space on the device by removing unnecessary duplicates. Now, the same feature has been extended to iCloud Shared Photo Library, which enables families and groups to save more images together without taking up too much space.

Web push notifications

With the arrival of iOS 16.4, users can now receive web-based notifications via Safari browser. Similar to app notifications, users can choose to receive notifications from websites by opting in. For instance, users can receive notifications from a website like TechtUSA whenever a new article is published.

What's more on iOS 16.4?

Apart from these, the latest iOS 16.4 update also introduces changes to the interface of Apple Music, displaying a small banner at the bottom instead of the full-screen pop-up for the queued songs list.

In addition, the update also includes voice-over support for the Weather app and a new feature to identify and remove duplicate photos and videos in the Photos app. Moreover, users can now choose from three software update options in the settings - beta, public, and off. It also reintroduces the page-turn curl animation in Apple Books, which had been removed in a previous iOS update.

Lastly, the latest iOS 16.4 update for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models includes optimizations for Crash Detection. It also fixes an issue where Matter-compatible thermostats could become unresponsive when paired with Apple Home.

Additionally, an accessibility setting has been added to automatically dim video when flashes of light or strobe effects are detected. Another fix included is for Ask to Buy requests from children, which were previously failing to appear on the parent's device.
