Spotify, one of the biggest names in the music world, left behind a significant quarter with strong user growth and ad revenues.

Before the arrival of platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, many people, especially outside of Europe and America, turned to programs like LimeWire or used "YouTube MP3 converter" to access their desired music. However, the landscape has dramatically changed, largely because of the affordability and user-friendly interfaces of these streaming apps.

Spotify's third quarter of 2023 results showcases this transformation. The company has registered a profit for the quarter, marking a significant turnaround from its losses in the prior year. Their monthly active users have risen by 26% year-over-year, totaling 574 million users, surpassing their own projections by 2 million.

Even more significant is the growth in paid subscribers. With a 16% year-over-year increase, the number of paying users has now reached 226 million. This growth can be attributed to Spotify's decision to shift certain free features to their Premium tier, influencing user choices.

The third quarter also saw an 11% increase in total revenue year-over-year, achieving €3.4 billion, outperforming expectations. However, there remains an area where Spotify could further enhance its user satisfaction. Many audiophiles have been eagerly awaiting the platform's lossless audio option, rumored to be named the “Supremium” tier, which is priced at $19.99 per month and offers additional features.
