ARIZONA (TechtUSA) - When its Arizona plant opens in 2024, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) is reported to produce 4nm Apple chips. Before this, the factory produced processors using 5nm technology, seeming odd considering that the manufacturer already utilized superior technology in other factories in China.

BGR reports that TSMC's new Arizona plant will begin producing 4nm chips in 2024. The report further adds that Qualcomm's Worldwide Senior VP and Head Working Official Chen Ruowen said that Qualcomm will be the primary client of TSMC's US plant's 4nm chips. It has been previously reported that this chip factory will cost around $12 billion.

It was previously revealed that AMD and NVIDIA were among the organizations that asked TSMC to begin making 4nm chips in the US. Companies are planning to source chips made in the United States as a result of this development. In addition, this new plant ought to make it possible for a plethora of brand-new businesses and jobs to emerge in support of the manufacturing facility.

In addition to Qualcomm, it is anticipated that Apple, AMD, and NVIDIA will place a significant order for the chips produced in the Arizona facility by TSMC. The firm will also upgrade the Arizona plant in the second phase of the upgrade to produce more advanced 3nm chips, which is expected to happen around 2026.
