The electric version of the Classic Mini carries a hefty price tag

The iconic Mini, once conceived as a cost-effective solution for the masses in Britain, has undergone an electric transformation. David Brown Automotive, a name synonymous with luxurious restorations, has unveiled their electrified iteration, the Mini eMastered.

Although the Mini's silhouette remains timeless, its price tag is bound to turn heads. The Mini eMastered is powered by a 72-kilowatt electric motor coupled with an 18.8-kilowatt-hour battery, boasting a range of up to 110 miles on a single charge. Its performance metrics are impressive too, as it can dart from a standstill to 62 mph in just 8.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 92 mph.

Modern tech conveniences like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are integrated. Yet, the real surprise comes in the form of its cost: a staggering $154,500 (£125,000), not including potential additional fees and taxes. This is a stark contrast to the Mini's original mission of affordability. While the Mini eMastered is meticulously handcrafted and tailored to the buyer's preferences, its premium pricing positions it far from the reach of the everyday consumer.

Even though the Mini eMastered preserves the iconic design, mirroring the weight of the original combustion model at 1,411 pounds, its opulent price tag redefines it more as a luxury collector's item rather than a practical vehicle for the common man.
