Xiaomi recently introduced its Redmi Buds 4 Active earbuds to international markets, a departure from their usual strategy of releasing products initially within China. As an updated version of its predecessor, the Redmi Buds 4, the Active variant brings a host of improvements to the table.

One of the notable enhancements in the Redmi Buds 4 Active is its 12mm drivers, a step up from the 10mm drivers featured in the prior model. Although these larger drivers represent a significant upgrade, the earbuds fall short in offering comprehensive active noise cancellation options. While the original Buds 4 includes active noise cancellation, standard, and transparent ambient sound modes, the Buds 4 Active only provides active noise cancellation and standard modes. Moreover, the Buds 4 Active comes with an IPX4 water resistance certification, whereas its predecessor holds a more robust IPX5 rating for dust and water resistance.

In terms of design, the Redmi Buds 4 Active departs from its predecessor, featuring larger earbuds and a more rounded charging case. The case enables up to 28 hours of use, while the earbuds themselves deliver up to 5 hours of playback on a single charge.

Furthermore, the Redmi Buds 4 Active supports rapid charging. A brief 10-minute charge can provide up to 2 hours of listening time. The earbuds also include Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and Google Fast Pair for easy pairing. They offer multiple touch controls such as double-tap, triple-tap, and press and hold, allowing users to manage music playback, answer or reject calls, and activate low latency mode, among other features.

With the charging case included, the Redmi Buds 4 Active weighs 42g and is powered by a 440mAh battery. The earbuds support the SBC codec and are currently available only in black on Xiaomi's website. Xiaomi has yet to provide information about the earbuds' pricing and shipping details, but it's expected that such information will be announced shortly.
