Samsung is gearing up to introduce the Galaxy XCover 7, a new addition to its rugged smartphone lineup, in the upcoming months. The design details of this smartphone were recently revealed through an online leak of official renderings. Further intrigue was added when the model number SM-G556B, associated with the Galaxy XCover 7, appeared in the Geekbench database.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Galaxy XCover 7 achieved a single-core score of 663 and a multicore score of 1867. These scores hint at a solid performance level, particularly for a rugged device. The listing also suggests that the phone will likely be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor, featuring a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a CPU with a top clock speed of 2.20GHz. Additionally, the device is reported to support Android 14 and come equipped with 6GB of RAM.

The Galaxy XCover 7 is expected to maintain the robust and durable design characteristic of the XCover series. Based on the leaked images, it appears to have a construction sturdy enough to meet MIL-STD-810H standards, implying significant drop resistance. Additionally, its design includes raised corners for enhanced shock absorption, and it is likely to offer IP68 protection against water and dust.

The phone's display panel, tailored for rugged use, features substantial bezels, with the selfie camera anticipated to be housed in a waterdrop-like notch. Unlike its predecessor, the XCover 6 Pro which had a dual-rear camera setup, the Galaxy XCover 7 appears to have a single rear camera, distinguished by a red accent ring. Recent reports also suggest that the back plate of the Galaxy XCover 7 is removable and sports a grooved pattern, indicating the possibility of a detachable battery. However, details regarding the battery life and charging capabilities remain unspecified.

There's speculation that the Galaxy XCover 7 will be a ruggedized variant of the Galaxy A55 5G. It is expected to be priced lower than the $599 Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, making it an appealing option for those seeking a durable smartphone at a more affordable price point.
