Vivo's new models, the S18 and S18 Pro, featuring curved OLED displays and 50MP main cameras, have launched in the Chinese market.

Vivo has recently unveiled its S18 series in China, introducing a fresh design in its S smartphone series. The lineup includes the Vivo S18 and the Vivo S18 Pro, each featuring distinct specifications and capabilities.

The Vivo S18 and S18 Pro boast a sleek design with a rear panel showcasing a feather-like pattern and a plastic middle frame. Both models are remarkably thin and light, measuring 7.45mm in thickness and weighing around 185.8 grams, with the Pro model slightly heavier at 187.8 grams. The devices feature a tall 6.78-inch curved OLED display, offering Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an impressive 2800 nits of peak brightness. A centrally aligned punch hole cutout on the display houses the front camera.

Under the hood, the Vivo S18 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, while the S18 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset. These are complemented by up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Notably, the Pro version includes LPDDR5X RAM, whereas the standard S18 comes with LPDDR4X memory. Both models run on Android 14 OS with Vivo's custom OriginOS 4 skin.

The S18 series supports up to 16GB of virtual RAM expansion and 50GB of storage compression. A significant feature of these devices is their large 5,000mAh batteries, supporting 80W fast charging. According to Vivo, the devices can last up to 13.5 hours on a full charge and come with a 4-year battery life guarantee, including free battery replacement.

In terms of photography, the Vivo S18 Pro houses a versatile camera setup with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX920 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel Samsung JNI ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12-megapixel IMX663 telephoto shooter offering 2x optical zoom. The base S18 model includes a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, alongside a 50-megapixel front camera.

The Vivo S18 and S18 Pro are available in various color options, including white, green, and black, and in different storage configurations. The pricing for the models varies based on the configuration, with the base S18 starting at approximately 2,299 Yuan ($325) and the S18 Pro starting at about 3,199 Yuan ($452). The Vivo S18 will be available for sale from December 22, while the S18 Pro and S18e models will go on sale on January 13, 2024.
