Stating that he was at his family's house in Gaziantep during the big earthquakes that took place yesterday, Kourdi said that he was terrified when he felt the tremors. Stating that they jumped out of the beds in panic at around 04.15, Kourdi said that the tremors increased, the furniture in the house began to shake, and the things fell and broke.

"We tried to lie on the ground and protect ourselves. I told my family, 'It will stop soon, it will stop soon!' I shouted, but it seemed like it would take forever." Kourdi said that after about 20 minutes, the tremors started again and 11 consecutive aftershocks were experienced. He stated that after the aftershocks stopped, they quickly entered the house, grabbed a coat and boots, jumped into the car and went to an open area with his family away from the buildings. The earthquake has left more than 10.000 people dead and the toll is rising.
