At least three individuals died in Arkansas as tornadoes tear through the Midwest and South amidst severe storms.

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (TechtUSA) - At least 20 individuals have been injured and 3 confirmed dead after a powerful tornado swept through Little Rock, Arkansas, causing extensive damage by tearing off roofs and walls, uprooting trees, and overturning vehicles. The tornado left a trail of destruction in its wake.

The Mayor of Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, declared a state of emergency and bthe state's National Guard to assist with the recovery efforts in response to reports of significant damage throughout the central part of the state following the tornado.

The tornado in Little Rock first hit the western neighborhoods of the city, causing significant damage to a small shopping center containing a Kroger grocery store, before crossing the Arkansas River into North Little Rock and other nearby cities, where homes, businesses, and vehicles sustained widespread damage. In addition, nearly 70,000 people in Arkansas experienced power outages due to the tornado as reported by poweroutage.us.

Unfortunately, the tornado resulted in the death of one individual in North Little Rock, as confirmed by the Pulaski County Coroner, Gerone Q. A second tornado hit Wynne, which is located approximately 100 miles east of Little Rock, at around 6 p.m. The Arkansas emergency manager, Rebekah Magnus, stated that the second tornado caused two fatalities.

According to officials from the fire departments in the Little Rock area, search and rescue teams have been dispatched to the affected areas and are going door-to-door to check for injured residents.

To accommodate the displaced residents, City of Little Rock has established a temporary emergency shelter at Hall STEAM Magnet High School, located at 6700 H St. The shelter is currently operational and ready to receive affected residents. In addition, Rock Region Metro is offering shuttle services from affected neighborhoods.
