MARION COUNTY, Florida (TechtUSA) - There have been instances where people have been arrested for strange or unusual reasons. For example, in 2020, a man was arrested in San Francisco for stealing a lemur from a zoo. He later claimed that he had been trying to return the lemur to its rightful owner.

Meanwhile, according to deputies, a 39-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence for allegedly hitting a woman in the face with a piece of pizza. The incident took place in Marion County and was reported after a 911 hang-up call that indicated a possible domestic disturbance.

Based on a probable cause affidavit, responding deputies spoke to Ortelio Lazaro Alfonso who stated that he had engaged in a verbal argument with the victim. However, the victim told the deputies that during the altercation over disciplining, Alfonso had hit her in the face with a slice of pizza.

The victim informed the deputies that Alfonso had become upset with her after she disciplined someone in the residence on their "bottom area." She reported that Alfonso had initially pointed at her during the argument but didn't hit her.

The probable cause affidavit states that Alfonso then took a slice of pizza and hit the victim's left cheek with it. The deputies noticed that the victim's shirt had pizza sauce on the front, collar, and back, and she had pizza remnants in her hair and ears. The report also mentioned that pizza sauce was found on the walls and ceiling of the house.

Alfonso admitted to throwing the pizza slice at the victim but denied hitting her with his hands. He was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence for simple battery before being transported to Marion County Jail.
