Apple employees have come to the fore with their desire to unionize in different regions for a while. In this context, now Glasgow Apple store employees have started to vote for unionization. Wednesday saw a vote to join a union among employees at an Apple store in Glasgow, Scotland. The Herald reports that employees at Apple's Buchanan Street location—one of two Apple stores in Scotland's largest city—decided "overwhelmingly" to join the GMB Union. The retail location is now on track to become the first unionized Apple Store in the United Kingdom thanks to the historic vote.

Reports from Engadget inquired about Apple's response but received no response immediately. The company stated to The Herald, "We have long been committed to providing an excellent experience for our customers and teams." According to GMB Organizer John Slaven, "This is a tribute to the hard work of activists and workers in Apple Glasgow and is an absolutely historic vote."
