In a new study published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Nature Communications, experiments on mice found that the drug immobilized sperm. The drug, which is said to temporarily paralyze sperm, was injected into male mice. The findings revealed that the drug prevented pregnancy by 100 percent for two and a half hours, and by about 91 percent at three and a half hours.

The researchers stated that full fertility returned 24 hours after administration of the drug.

"This is a real revolution in the field of male contraception," said Jochen Buck of Cornell University in the USA. There are only two options for male contraception: vasectomy and condom. Although there are many more options for women, it is known that birth control pills, for example, have many side effects. These include bleeding between menstrual periods, nausea, and decreased sexual desire.
