The children, who were 13 and 14 years old, disappeared on Saturday (7 January) in Karachi, Pakistan. Authorities announced that children trying to go to South Korea were found 1200 kilometers from home. This roughly corresponds to the distance between Istanbul and Erzurum.

Abraiz Ali Abbasi, the district's senior police officer, said that during a search of the girls' home, they found a diary in which they wrote down their plans to travel to South Korea to meet BTS. Abbasi used the following statements: Train times were written in the diary, and another friend was mentioned that they were planning to escape. We also talked to those friends. The police officer said that after a planned search, they learned that the girls were being held at the police station in the city of Lahore, 1200 kilometers from their home.
