Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, shared his thoughts on Meta's announcement about paid verification for Instagram and Facebook on Monday, stating that he believed it was an expected move by the company.

Elon Musk introduced Twitter Blue in 2022, allowing users to purchase the blue verification badge and become verified on the social media platform. In a similar move, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has recently announced the launch of its own paid verification service. Meta Verified is currently being tested in Australia and New Zealand, with a monthly fee of $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iPhones.

What is difference between Twitter Blue and Meta Verified?

The key difference between Twitter Blue and Meta Verified is the level of choice provided to users. While Twitter has eliminated the previous verification methods, Instagram still offers them, and people can still get verified on Instagram for free if they meet the platform's criteria.

However, Twitter does not provide this option. Elon Musk has also stated that blue ticks awarded before Twitter's subscription service will be removed because they are "corrupted." It is unclear what Meta's stance is on already verified accounts.
