Apple is in the final stages of preparations for its "Wonderlust" event, scheduled for September 12. At this event, the tech giant is expected to introduce its next generation of iPhones, Watch Series, among other innovations. Mark Gurman, a renowned reporter, shed light on some details about the upcoming software versions for iPhones and iPads in his recent Power On newsletter. Earlier in June, during the annual WWDC, Apple had announced iOS 17 and iPadOS 17.

Traditionally, Apple releases newer versions of its operating system for iPhones and iPads in a phased manner, typically making them public during its annual fall event. These software updates go through extensive beta testing before their official launch.

Based on insider information acquired by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is considering the eighth betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 as the final versions. Both these beta versions were introduced to developers and the public just last week. Notably, Apple plans to simultaneously launch these software updates for both the iPhone and iPad.

Reflecting on past release strategies, iOS 16 was introduced exclusively for iPhones on September 12 of the previous year. However, iPadOS 16 made its debut on October 24, almost a month post the iOS 16 release. This delay was attributed to complications associated with the Stage Manager. It's anticipated that iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will be unveiled soon after the iPhone 15's official announcement this September 12.

To highlight some features, iOS 17 is equipped with a Standby mode, enhanced AirDrop features, interactive widgets, a journal app, and other improvements. Meanwhile, iPadOS 17 will boast a customizable lock screen, Safari profiles, a Health app, and several other upgrades.
