WASHINGTON (TechtUSA) - Valve made the official announcement of Counter-Strike 2 based on Source Engine 2 on Wednesday, which is being touted as an evolution of one of the most popular first-person shooter games of all time.

The new game offers updated features and is meant to be a complete overhaul of the entire Counter-Strike experience. Some of these new features were showcased during the announcement, along with the announcement of a limited test that begins today.
The game is set to be released in the summer and will be offered as a free upgrade to players who already own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Valve released a couple of videos on its YouTube channels discussing the new game, and the official Counter-Strike Twitter account began tweeting about the announcement, sharing additional details with fans.

Valve showcased various enhancements to tick rates, maps, and smoke grenades in some of the videos released on Wednesday. These updates provide a glimpse of the improved features in Counter-Strike 2, although Valve claims that there is much more to come. The limited test being conducted this week will allow players to experience these updates firsthand.

"All of the game's new features will be revealed when it officially launches this summer, but the road to Counter-Strike 2 begins today as a Limited Test for select CS:GO players," Valve stated.
"During this testing period, we'll be evaluating a subset of features to shake out any issues before the worldwide release." it added.
