Huawei increases business efficiency in ports

Port operators are among the business lines that benefit from the advantages offered by 5G network systems. About 80% of global trade is carried out by sea. Therefore, in integrated global transportation, the management of logistics processes and the timely departure of ships from ports are important. Huawei, with its solutions for the port industry; offers solutions that increase energy savings, work safety and work efficiency. With the 5G+4L autonomous driving technology developed by the company, significant time and cost savings are achieved at ports.

Zero carbon emissions with electric trucks

With the smart transportation system developed by Huawei and BeiDou, the cranes at the Tianjin Port container terminal can be controlled remotely. In addition, the electric trucks that carry cargo between the containers and ships serving in the port can also operate without driver. Remotely controlled trucks reach the stations according to the pre-calculated driving route, ensuring that the whole process is completed in a short time and safely.

The system, which works on the artificial intelligence-based 'Ultra-L4' smart transportation module developed by Huawei, is also the world's first zero carbon emission smart port transportation system. The 76 trucks used in Tianjin, one of the ports with the highest technological infrastructure in China, operate on fixed routes, with 24/7 work shifts, without drivers.

With this transformation, Tianjin Port achieved 20% energy savings and increased its work efficiency by 20% with a container loading speed of 39 units per hour.
