Driverless taxis era has arrived!

The future is here and it is coming hot with driveless taxi technology. Los Angeles has announced that they started offering driveless taxi. Waymo moved one step closer to launching its autonomous taxi service in California when it received a Driverless Pilot permit from the state late last year. Waymo has announced plans to begin testing driverless cars in Los Angeles as it expands its service area.

Los Angeles started to offer driveless taxi

According to the company's statement to Engadget, the test will be the first time fully autonomous vehicles will be on the streets of Los Angeles. Additionally, the company claims that it has been able to roll out autonomous drivers in new cities with "little-to-no on-board engineering work" because of successful tests in San Francisco.

However, this does not imply that the business is prepared to launch its Waymo One taxi service in California. It is likely that the LA test will proceed in the same manner as Waymo's fleet in San Francisco: a select few vehicles that are only available to Waymo Research Trusted Tester riders. Waymo didn't say when customers in Los Angeles will be able to use the full driverless taxi service. It probably depends on the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) giving the company a Driverless Deployment permit. Waymo's paid taxi service will only be available in Phoenix, Arizona, until it can overcome that final legal hurdle. Only GM's Cruise robotaxi service is allowed to charge for driverless rides in the state at this time, provided that the rides take place during daylight hours.
